Lapis-Legit
Lapis-Legit is one of the highly favored cakes in Indonesia and also favored by the Southeast Asian community in general.Lapis-Legit often made in celebration of special days such as Birthdays, Wedding Day also in the feast day of The New Year even now also liked eaten daily.Of the row type of Cakes, Lapis-Legit is the most expensive type, no wonder because of the material is expensive, making takes a long time and need patience.

Decorating of Cakes



Painted Cakes

There are many ways to decorate cakes, one of which is painted on the cakes.
Load a varnish soaked brush with two colours required, on one corner pick up brown dusting powder and on the opposite corner pick up white dusting powder, crush the grains of dusting powder using a brush on the piece of foil, then hold the brush vertically place it on the chisel edge and draw sweeping vines, continue overlapping strokes to build up the effect around the outline of the cakes.


Create the bow look by loading a varnish soaked brush with white and red dusting powders, prime colour on tin foil then create a looped effect with brush, paint two on either side, use the same colour to paint on the bow tails, to vary the width of the tails vary the pressure on the brush.


Reload the brush with dark and light green dusting powder, to create the leaves wiggle the brush then slide the brush back onto the chisel edge and lift off cleanly, add leaves in varying sizes along the vines on the cakes.

There are four steps to create a bud, the first step is painting a bridge shape using yellow and red dusting powder, the second step is painting a swiping U shape,


 









The third step is painting another U shape below, reload the brush at this point if your colours are not clearly defined, and the last step in creating the bud is starting on the side of the bud like painting a comma as you would write with a pen, sweeping around the bottom of the bud.

                                                          
To define the rose bud with the brush on the chisel edge paint a line hugging the bud from the base extending just above the top of the bud, load white and lilac dusting powder colours onto your brush then tip the side with lilac into dark blue to intensify the edge of the shading.


Continue mixing until all grains are crushed, paint the flowers by placing the brush on the chisel edge and pivoting the dark outside colour into a teardrop shape.


Build up the flower by overlapping the petals making sure your colours are clearly defined


Mix some varnish and yellow dusting powder together to an inky consistency and dip the end of your paintbrush handle into the paint and dot the flower center.


Build up the design by overlapping the flowers over the bow and fill in any gaps using more leaves.

Decorating of Cakes


Hearts Cakes Decorating

There are many techniques of Cakes Decorating. This is one of a simple techniques of Cakes decorating : Cakes decorating shapes of Hearts 

* To make the hearts, line a large baking sheet with baking paper. Roll out the pink icing and 100g of the red icing thinly on a surface lightly dusted with icing sugar, Cut out heart shapes from half of these pink and red icings, using a 3 cm heart-shaped cutter and transfer to the prepared sheet. Cut out larger hearts from the remaining roll-out icings, using a 4 cm heart-shaped cutter. From each large heart, cut out a smaller heart from the middle, using a 2 cm cutter. Transfer all hearts and centres to the prepared sheet, You will need about 40 heart shapes altogether. Leave for several hours or overnight, uncovered, to harden.


* Sandwich the cakes with half of the butter cream and all of the raspberry or strawberry jam. Place on a 28 cm cake board. Using a palette knife, spread the remaining butter cream over the top and sides of the cake.
* Cover the cake with the white icing.



* Cover the cake board with the remaining red icing.


* Leave to firm up overnight before decorating, if desired. Put the royal icing in a small piping bag and snip off just the tip.

* Take a couple of the larger hearts from the paper and prop them up on the top of the cake, securing them to the cake and where they lean against each other with dots of icing from the piping bag. Prop up another two hearts slightly away from the first two and then a further two. Leave for at least an hour to set.


* Once set, add all of the hearts to the cake, securing them at different angles and adding height to the centre of the cake. Do this in a few stages so the hearts have a chance to set


* Wrap the wider ribbon around the base of the cake, securing with a dot of royal icing. Wrap the thinner ribbon around the cake board, securing with a dressmaker's pin.
